Thursday December 17th Fellowship Night 6:30pm

We normally have our mid-week service in this time slot but this week we are having a Christmas themed Potluck and fellowship instead! We want to be a church that lives out the “first commandment first and the second commandment second!” I first heard Mike Bickle say this from IHOP in Kansas City and I realized that as a ministry leader we put almost all our effort in the first commandment – to love the Lord our God with all our heart, all our soul, and mind. But look what Jesus said was as important as this  first commandment in the gospel of Matthew:

Matt 22:37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Holy Bible, New Living Translation ®

Notice Jesus says to love our neighbor is as equally important! I’ve always felt it’s easier to love people that you don’t know or spend any time with! I want to really obey God’s word and actually love people. I’m not saying I’m good at this by any means but if God says I can do it I’m going to commit to it! And I personally believe that our commitment to love each other is an indicator of commitment to love God.

IMG_0682Please don’t isolate this holiday season! That is the enemy’s scheme to rob us from obeying these commandments. Come as you are and allow yourself to ‘know someone’ and to ‘be known’. God’s power to love us and love others through you, will meet you at that place of obedience.

Oh by the way- there will be an ugly holiday sweater contest if you are so inclined to participate. hope to see you there – Jon
