You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you Acts 1:8

The power Jesus talks about in Acts 1:8 is the power to be His witness.

Matt 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” NASU

This is our “great commission”. I just want to emphasize two very important points. First is the first imperative (command) “go”. This is the key and the most difficult for most. I’m not talking about going to distant lands I just talking about initiating. Going first. I think most Christians would talk about Jesus if asked, but how often does that happen? Go, means we are the ones that mobilize. We put ourselves in situations and scenario’s where we will be around non-believers specifically in order that spiritual conversation is likely to be prompted. You can do this anywhere.

The second point I want to make is the last one Jesus made: “I am with you always”. Yes, initiating is difficult, you have to be very intentional or it won’t happen. But the Lord is with us! In those times you feel the most uncomfortable, if it’s to carry out your commission, the Lord is very close. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable – It’s worth it! -Pastor Jon
